Sound Healing
Sound has been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing, to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance.Using the vibrations from instruments such as Tibetan singing bowls, tingshaws, crystal bowls, and chimes, participants are submerged in sound. Each instrument creates a different frequency that vibrates in the body and helps individuals experience a relaxed and restorative state.
Gentle Restorative Chair Yoga for Seniors

Mindful Breathing
Our breath is our life force. It is what connects us with our bodies and speech to sustain ourselves in this life. Without it, we cannot survive. And yet, it is something all of us take for granted, every minute of every day. As a result, unless we are doing some strenuous exercise, we normally use only ten percent of our lung capacity which is focused in the upper region of our lungs. This leads to shallow breathing and our bodies are then denied the optimum healthy benefits that a full utilization of the lungs can otherwise provide.
Mindfulness Meditation and Stress Relief Guided Imagery
Mindfulness has been shown in scientific studies to decrease stress and anxiety while increasing well-being and feelings of happiness. It has also been linked to better sleep, increased immune function and improved focus and concentration. With regular practice, mindfulness meditation has been shown to change the way our brains respond to emotional stimuli even when we're not meditating. Here are some benefits:
• Increased mental strength and ability to focus.
• Better memory, better cognitive skills, and more creativity.
• An overall sharper mind that does a better job of processing information.
• Increase grey matter in the brain in areas related to memory.
• Enhance relaxation and relief from anxiety and depression.
Chair Stretch Exercise
Chair Exercise is the ideal option for seniors with limited mobility or balance issues. Exercises in a chair provide seniors with an easy and enjoyable way to stay active, socially involved, and stretch their muscles without stressing their bodies. Stronger upper body muscles can provide greater balance and stability, reducing the risk of falling. Hundreds of neurotransmitters and hormones are released with exercise that give seniors a mood boost, reduce depression, and improve overall health.
